More sales in your salon? These sales tricks work right away!

Do you want to take product sales in your salon to the next level? Then we have good news for you! During business coach Vicky Vermeiren's recent wildly popular webinar, her practical approach to product sales was once again a huge success. Would you also like to benefit from these valuable insights? Then read on for the best tips & tricks to boost your product sales!

#1. Know the numbers

Did you know that only 14% of revenue in a salon comes from product sales? In beauty salons, it's up to 20%! This means that 86% still consists of treatments.

By using the right strategies, you can increase this income to 20-30%.

Optios salon software lets you get more out of your product sales thanks to:

  • Insight into product sales: through the reports function you can easily see which products sell best in a given period (by month, quarter, etc.). You can filter sales by product and analyze which products contribute the most to your overall revenue. This provides an opportunity to motivate your employees to give extra advice on specific products during a certain period.

  • Focused customer advice: In customer management you can see exactly which products a customer has purchased before. This makes it easy to advise them on additional products or inquire about their experience with a particular product. A personal touch that customers appreciate!

#2. Let go of your beliefs

Many salon professionals often think, "That customer will never buy anyway" or "They'll ask when they need something." But nothing could be further from the truth! To drive product sales, it is important to break these assumptions and actively engage in the conversation.

#3. The sales process in four steps

  1. Gain/have trust: Customers buy from people they trust. Did you know that 55% of trust depends on body language? Always assume an open and positive attitude.

  2. Client need: Helps the client see that there is a specific need. For example, ask, "Have you noticed certain things about your skin/hair the last few weeks?"

  3. Product presentation: Display products clearly in your salon. Use the right side of your salon, place products at eye level and repeat the offer frequently (think of how stores like IKEA do this). And remember: if you don't communicate the price, customers often think the product is overpriced. Make sure prices are clearly visible.

  4. Closing: Close the sale in a friendly and professional manner.

#4. Make it personal

Have you identified the customer's needs? Then suggest recommending a product: "May I recommend a product to address this problem?" Then present the product briefly and powerfully:

  • What is the product and what does it cost?

  • What specific feature makes this product special?

  • How does this solve the client's problem? (For example, "My hair is so frizzy.") Repeat the customer's vocabulary used.

#5. Objections? No problem!

If a salon customer says a product is too expensive, ask what they are comparing it to. For example, are they comparing your product to a cheaper version, such as a blue jar from Nivea? Then explain what justifies the price difference by naming technical details.

Or does a customer say they prefer to buy the product online? Understandable! But emphasize that your advice is not available online.

Does the customer say "no": send them home with a sample/sample - who knows, maybe the seed is planted and they will buy next time.

#6. Don't forget the after sales!

Make sure your after-sales are well organized. By smart marketing campaigns and insight into your numbers, you can set up targeted campaigns that instantly boost your sales. Some of the benefits of Optios:

  • Automated marketing campaigns: With Optios, easily send personalized emails or SMS messages through automated campaigns. Use filters such as "product bought after treatment" for advice on products that prolong results, or send birthday offers such as 10% off. Once set up, campaigns are automatic, so you always stay in touch with your customers.

  • One-time campaigns: Want to send a monthly newsletter or a special promotion around the holidays? With Optios, you can easily set up one-time campaigns and send targeted mailings to specific customer groups, such as all women or your top clients. This way you reach exactly the right target group at the right time.

  • SMS campaigns: Did you know that SMS campaigns have a 98% opening rate, with 93% reading the message within 5 minutes? This makes SMS an ideal way to connect with your customers quickly and effectively, both for automated and one-time campaigns.

"Dare to start the conversation, offer value and make sure your customer always walks out the door with the right product." - With these tips from business coach Vicky Vermeiren, you can easily increase product sales in your salon.
